Last updated: [DATE TO BE FILLED BEFORE PUBLISHING]

This Platform is built for children and teenagers. We've kept the data we collect as small and simple as we could, and this page explains exactly what we do — and, just as importantly, what we deliberately do not do.

If we make a material change to this policy, we'll give at least one week's notice before it takes effect (for example, by showing a notice in the Platform), so you have time to review it.

1. What we collect, and why

DataWhy we collect it
A display name (letters and numbers only)To identify your account inside the Platform. We do not ask for, and recommend you do not enter, your real full name.
An email addressSolely to let you recover your password if you forget it, and, if you registered through Google, to create your account.
A password (stored as an irreversible cryptographic hash, never in plain text)To protect your account.
Age group (8–12 or 13–18) and general region (e.g., "Europe")To show you age-appropriate content and companies relevant to your region. We do not ask for your date of birth, home address, or exact location.
A class code (optional)Only if you join through a teacher/school; links your account to that class for the teacher's dashboard.
In-app progress (lessons completed, quiz scores, simulated portfolio, badges)To run the core features of the Platform — your progress, and nothing more.
Parental/guardian consent confirmation (see Section 4)Required before a student account can be created.

We do not ask for or store: your real legal name, home address, school name (beyond an optional class code), phone number, photos of you, or any government ID.

2. What we do not do

  • We never send marketing emails, newsletters, or promotional messages of any kind. The only email we will ever send you is a password-reset link, if you request one. Under no circumstances do we market any product or service to a student who has created an account on the Platform.
  • We do not use tracking or advertising cookies. The Platform sets exactly one cookie, used solely to keep you signed in. It is not used to track you across other websites, and no data from it is sold or shared with advertisers.
  • We do not run third-party analytics or advertising scripts (such as Google Analytics or advertising pixels) on this Platform.
  • We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to anyone, for any purpose.
  • We do not show advertising to users.

3. Third parties we do rely on

To run the Platform, a small number of service providers process data on our behalf, only as needed to make the Platform work. Each is only permitted to use your data for the purpose it was given, not for their own purposes:

Service providerWhat they doWhat they can see
[TO BE FILLED: hosting provider]Hosts the Platform and its databaseAccount data needed to run the Platform
Google (only if you use "Sign in with Google")Verifies your identity at sign-inYour Google account's basic profile info, only if you choose this option
[TO BE FILLED: any other real provider actually in use — e.g. email-sending service, if any]

This table should be kept accurate and complete before publishing — if you're not sure whether a provider belongs here, the simple test is: does this company ever receive or process any user data at all, even indirectly? If yes, it belongs on this list.

4. Children's privacy and parental consent

We know most people using this Platform are minors. Before a student account can be created, we require confirmation that a parent or legal guardian is aware of and consents to the account being created, as described at sign-up. This is a self-reported confirmation, checked at the point of registration — we do not independently verify the identity of the parent or guardian giving that consent. If you are a parent or guardian and did not give this permission, please contact us (see Section 10) and we will remove the account promptly.

Depending on where you live, additional legal protections may apply to your data (for example, GDPR in the European Union, or COPPA in the United States). Nothing in this policy limits those rights.

5. If you join through a school (US users: FERPA)

If a student joins the Platform through a teacher or school (using a class code), the school or teacher is responsible for having the appropriate permission to do so — for example, under a school's existing consent process, or a specific exemption that applies under their local student-privacy law.

For schools in the United States: information that directly relates to an identifiable student may be considered an "Education Record" under FERPA. We never share Education Records with third parties for advertising, and never use them for behaviorally-targeted advertising to a student or their family. We only share this kind of data as directed by the school/teacher (for example, a teacher viewing their own class's progress) or with the service providers listed in Section 3, strictly to run the Platform.

6. How long we keep data, and how to delete it

We keep your account data for as long as the account is active. If an account has had no activity for 24 consecutive months, we will delete it and its associated data, unless we are required to keep certain records for longer by law.

You, or your parent/guardian, can also ask for the account and its data to be deleted sooner, at any time — through the "Request account deletion" option in Account Settings, or by contacting us (Section 10). This is a request, not an instant action: it's sent to our team for review before anything is deleted, rather than happening automatically the moment it's submitted. We aim to review and act on deletion requests promptly. Deletion, once carried out, is permanent and cannot be undone.

7. Data security

Passwords are never stored in plain text. Reasonable technical measures are used to protect stored data, but no online system can be guaranteed 100% secure — we ask that you also help by keeping your password private and not sharing your account.

8. Your rights

Depending on your location, you (or your parent/guardian, on your behalf) may have the following rights over the data we hold about you:

  • The right to be informed — to know clearly what data we process about you and why (this policy is that information).
  • The right of access — to ask what data we hold about you.
  • The right to rectification — to have incorrect data corrected.
  • The right to erasure ("right to be forgotten") — to ask for your data to be deleted, for example once it's no longer needed for the purpose it was collected for.
  • The right to restrict processing — to ask us to temporarily pause processing your data, for example while a dispute about it is resolved.
  • The right to data portability — to receive the data you gave us in a structured, commonly-used format.
  • The right to object — to object to further processing of your data.
  • Rights related to automated decision-making — see Section 8a below.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 10. If you raise a privacy concern with us, we will do our best to respond within 48 hours.

8a. Automated decision-making

We do not use your personal data for profiling, and no decision that meaningfully affects you on this Platform is made by a fully automated process without the possibility of human review. In-app progress tracking (like quiz scores or badges) reflects what you've actually done on the Platform — it is not used to build a profile of you for any other purpose.

9. If something goes wrong: data breach notification

If we ever become aware of a security incident that compromises the confidentiality of your personal data, we will assess it promptly and, where required by law, notify affected users (or their parent/guardian) and any relevant regulator within the timeframe the law requires, describing what happened and what data was involved, to the extent known at the time.
